On Friday Kirsten and I went to this super cool craft store
called Craft World. This is kind of a strange store because it isn’t one
retailer. There are a bunch of booths set up that people rent out to sell their
own stuff. This means that everything that they sell is 100% New Zealand made.
There is everything from jewelry to aprons, to woodcarvings, to handmade glass.
It is quite cool.
That night there was a YSA dance. Sister Pilling, the hostess and one of the leaders of the YSA, called Kirsten and I to see if we would help set up. Of course we were more than happy to help. We got there to help set up and little did we know we were the only ones called to help, the dance didn’t technically start for another hour and a half and everything was already done. But we did have the privilege to fill a cooler with hose water and watch the sunset.

We decided that it must be the "cool" thing to show up an hour after it starts. At about 9-9:30 some people decided to
make an appearance and it ended up being really fun. The YSA here are so
friendly and all the guys are such good dancers. I was thoroughly impressed.

The boys have this phrase that they used pretty much all
night. The phrase was “playin’ up”. Playin’ up basically means when a guy
leaves his manly friends to hang out/talk/text basically anything with a girl.
They said it all time. They kept telling this guy Bronson that he needs to
start “playin’ up” because he’s been home from his mission for 9 months now and
still isn’t dating anybody. Then all the boys kept telling me that I was
“playin up” because I was talking to him and not the other BYU girls. False. I
was not “playin’ up”. Well...I don't think I was.
Saturday:
Saturday was another relaxing day. We got to sleep in, go
for a run, and even go to the beach.
As we were walking down the streets of Takapuna we got super excited because we realized it was St. Patricks day. One of the local pubs was having a bunch of performers in honor of it. They had a group of Irish dancers that were so entertaining. Especially when they started dancing to Cotten Eyed Joe!
We went down to Takapuna beach again. It might be one of my favorite places to go to here in New Zealand. We walked around the shops and then went for a leisurely stroll down the beach. And of course we got some ice cream. Nothing beats eating ice cream, on the beach, in New Zealand.
As we were walking back to the bus stop we came across a
park so naturally we had to go have a play.
There was a tree...
The next best thing to a real pony...
